about

accessibility has been at the center of our work for over a decade.

go2accessibility is a practice of gotomedia — an enterprise UX research and strategy consultancy with twenty-five years of history. We don't just audit. We advocate. Real people. Real testing. Real accessibility.

01

the DNA

inclusive design is simply better design.

We built go2accessibility because we saw a growing disconnect: companies were investing in accessibility as a checkbox while failing to realize it was the same foundation required for AI readiness and true digital equity.

The same semantic markup that serves a screen reader user serves a language model. The same heading hierarchy that helps a low-vision user orient helps a crawler. The same alt text that names an image for a blind user tells the model what the image depicts. Inclusive design is simply better design — it is also, increasingly, the only design that works.

02

the methodology

what makes our approach different.

We bring 25 years of UX research (Kelly Goto, principal) and 15+ years of accessibility specialty — including the A11y App Review program and a decade-plus of international speaking — to every engagement. We don't just audit. We advocate.

Every engagement combines three things, in this order:

  • Automated scanning — to clear the baseline 30% quickly so the budget goes to harder problems.
  • Manual expert audit — auditors with deep WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 fluency walk every flow.
  • Lived-experience testing — disabled users completing real tasks, surfacing the invisible 70%.

The third part is the part most teams skip. It's also where the findings that change a product live.

03

the people

the principals behind the practice.

Three people you'll work with. The principal who founded the practice; the accessibility lead who runs every audit; the lived-experience advisor who closes the gap between testing and reality.

principal · gotomedia

Kelly Goto.

Founder & principal. 25 years of UX research.

Kelly founded gotomedia 25 years ago as a research-driven UX consultancy and built accessibility into the foundation of the practice early. She has led inclusive-design research for enterprise clients across healthcare, media, and consumer technology, and now leads go2accessibility as the practice that puts disabled testers at the center of every engagement. Author, international speaker, and longtime advocate for accessibility as the foundation of good design — not a feature added at the end.

accessibility lead

Sean Yo.

Accessibility lead. 15+ years of specialty practice.

Sean leads accessibility audits and the lived-experience testing program at go2accessibility. He spent the last decade-plus running applied audit work across web, native app, kiosk, and transit surfaces, and built the A11y App Review program — a multi-year body of recorded native-app accessibility work with disabled testers that informs the methodology every engagement now uses.

An international speaker on accessibility for over a decade, Sean's practice sits where standards work meets real assistive technology on the real product. The findings that change executive minds are the ones he and the tester network surface together.

lived-experience advisor

Colin Wong.

Lived-experience advisor.

Colin is a disabled professional who uses assistive technology daily and advises go2accessibility on testing methodology, findings interpretation, and the difference between a WCAG pass and a product that's actually usable. His work helps shape how we recruit testers, how we frame findings for product teams, and what we choose to put in front of clients first.

04

the network

the people who test.

Our tester network is recruited and vetted by us — not crowdsourced, not anonymous, not paid by the click. They are disabled people who use assistive technology in their daily lives and choose to do this work professionally. Specific tester numbers and disability categories follow once Kelly confirms current network composition.

05

credibility

five signals worth surfacing.

  • 25 years of UX research at gotomedia with Kelly Goto as principal — the foundation this practice is built on.
  • 15+ years of accessibility specialty in the lead role — applied audits, the A11y App Review program, and a decade-plus of international speaking engagements.
  • Lived-experience testing at the center of every engagement — vetted disabled testers using their own assistive technology on the real product.
  • Deep WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 expertise across web, native app, kiosk, transit, and other digital surfaces — wherever customers actually touch the product.
  • Track record with enterprise healthcare, technology, and media leaders — Sony and Abbott named on this page; additional clients on request.
06

the moment

we don't just audit. we advocate.

The companies leading on accessibility are the same companies that will lead on AI readiness, on digital equity, on the next generation of regulatory standards. They are not separate problems. They are the same problem, named differently across decades.

We have spent 15+ years naming the problem clearly, on top of 25 years of UX research. We have built a methodology — combined automated and manual, with real disabled testers — that closes the gap most vendors cannot see. And we have built a practice that treats accessibility not as a compliance backstop, but as the foundation on which everything else is built.

Accessibility is not a feature. It's a foundation.
